The Simple Woman's Daybook

For today November 24

Outside My Window . . .
It was raining earlier this morning. I’m talking frog stranglin’, gully-washing rain. The kind Johnny Cash sang about in ‘Five Feet High and Risin’. His quote on this song: "My mama always taught me that good things come from adversity if we put our faith in the Lord. We couldn't see much good in the flood waters when they were causing us to have to leave home. But when the water went down, we found that it had washed a load of rich black bottom dirt across our land. The following year we had the best cotton crop we'd ever had."

I am thinking . . .
I should have gone grocery shopping at lunch instead of waiting until after work and, Lord love ‘em honey, the peoples is gonna be crazy today!

I am thankful for . . .
sweet iced tea (yeah I’m from the south!!!) and fried catfish

From the kitchen . . .
I am gonna make sweet potatoes (baked, whipped with butter & brown sugar, marshmallows melted on top), roll ups (cream cheese mixed with green onions spread on flour tortillas, add ham and roll up, slice when chilled), and lemon ice box pie (1/2 c. lemon juice, 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 2 eggs in a graham cracker crust) for Thanksgiving with MIL, her husband and his daughter’s family.

I am wearing . . .
a blue jean dress that is straight all the way down to my ankles, the blue collar with buttons on it (it has 2 collars, each has a different color/design on each side), and brown plaid skeechers

I am creating . . .
a clean kitchen and mind. I am working on getting my act together and cleaning up the house, starting with the kitchen. And I am reading the Bible (and making a journal thank you Jen Hatmaker for the wonderful suggestions!!!) and a book written on the book of Revelation so I am delving into the end time mysteries—and wondering if I am smart enough to understand any of it!!!

I am going . . .
grocery shopping, to my dad’s, then home

I am reading . . .
The Bible and Utah Blaine (yeah I am working on cleaning up my mind).

Around the house . . .
you could eat off of my kitchen floor but DON’T because I would just have to clean the darn thing again and my knees are not up for another round of scrubbing!!!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week
get through three days of work, get everything ready for Thanksgiving, get the two does I am allowed this weekend!

Here is picture thought I am sharing . . .
