The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY February 9 . . .

Outside my window . . .
Wet. Wet. Wet. It was raining when I got up this morning and it still looks like it could rain again at any time.

I am thinking . . .
I am so glad I got my laundry done yesterday. It was a gorgeous day for hanging out clothes and I did four loads. So I slept on sheets that smelt like sunshine last night. Oh la la!

I am thankful for . . .
Jiffy who makes inside greenhouses. It is a plastic container that has a plastic lid and small disks of potting soil in net. You put water on the disks and they swell up. Then you can start your seeds inside in a warm place. When it is time to plant outside, you just harden the plants for a week or two and viola!! It is great!

From the kitchen . . .
I fried chicken Saturday night and it was so stinking good!!! I love fried chicken!!

I am wearing . . .
gray lounge pants, teal t-shirt, blue plaid skeecher flips

I am creating . . .
crochet hearts, red trimmed in white and white trimmed in red. hmmm . . . maybe dark pink trimmed in light pink. That would be sooooooooooo cute!!

I am going . . .
to get a few more seeds to plant in my second greenhouse. I am waiting to plant the onions until it is the right phase of the moon but, other than potatoes, that is the only root plants I have.

I am reading . . .
Cut to the Quick by Dianne Emley. Yes I started it last week but I took a break and read Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand by Carrie Vaughn.

I am hoping . . .
that Mike (Rose's husband) gets well soon and that his broken hand heals quickly

I am hearing . . .
XIII with Val Kilmer on NBS

Around the house...
we have a new lab puppy

One of my favorite things...
dirt. I love the smell of fresh dirt right after it has been plowed.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Get Will to hook the disk to the tractor and disk up a garden space.

Here is picture thought I am sharing . . .

Hi Shannon,

Thanks for coming by my blog. Our daybooks sound eerily close to one another. LOL.

I too love the smell of sunshine and the freshness of my clothes after hanging on the line.

I can wait to get my hands in the dirt too. I am so looking forward to my first garden in years.

I can't wait to be able to hang clothes out and dig in the dirt. It is way to cold for hanging clothes and the ground is covered in about 6 feet of snow and ice! But a few more months and I will be smelling sunshine too!

Your vegetables look scrumptious! I love the smell of laundry hung outside. I can remember bringing in frozen laundry when we were kids. They can't put that smell in a can.
