The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY February 23, 2009 . . .

Outside my window . . .
Gorgeous!! This morning the water in the bird bath was frozen over, the birds were all over the feeders, the clothes were frozen on the line (maybe not a great thing but it was awesome looking!), and there was frost all on the ground. Including on the two rows of potatoes we planted yesterday!! Woo hoo!!!

I am thinking . . .
how come Will can drink water instead of Dr. Pepper and lost 5 pounds while I live on slim-fast and water for a week and I GAIN 5 pounds?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I am thankful for . . .
my dad and his pull behind the tractor tiller. He let us bring the tractor and the tiller down to our house yesterday to till up the garden. It was great!!!

From the kitchen . . .
Last night we had deer steak and french fries with boiled corn on the cob. Will took some to work for lunch today.

I am wearing . . .
blue denim dress and flips

I am creating . . .
still working on camo afghan but have been doing more reading and gardening than crocheting

I am going . . .
to work in the garden this afternoon, make more rows and see about setting up an area for the cucumbers with t-posts and cattle panel

I am reading . . .
Mountain Top then Deeper Water by Robert Whitlow (it is two novels in one book although, now that I have looked up Deeper Water I find out it is Book 1 in a series)

I am hoping . . .
that Slim-Fast beats no Dr. Pepper in no time!

I am hearing . . .
Native American flute music, it is amazing!!

Around the house...
stuff is growing!!! I now have okra, squash, tomatoes, tomatoes, and corn popping up in the little greenhouses in the house. It is great!!

One of my favorite things...
White Grape Crystal Light drink mix

A few plans for the rest of the week:
More rows in the garden, start some marigolds, sunflowers, and catnip to eventually plant in the garden to repel pests

Here is picture thought I am sharing . . . my Confederate Rose bloom from last year

It's wonderful to be thinking of gardening. Right now, I am watching it snow. Have a nice week.

I will post the bread recipe either tonight or tomorrow. It's REALLY easy.

So not fair that he loses weight with hardley any effort and you work so hard and get no results. My husband and I are the same way. It is so fustarating. Good luck with the slim fast.
